The process of manufacturing is carried out through making use of tools in combination with physical labor to create products to sell or use for various purposes. These items may be other tools, household goods, components for an aircraft or the aircraft itself. To make these products, various tools must be used. These tools may include cutting tools, moving tools, measuring tools, shaping tools or fastening tools, for instance. All have different functions that not only make the manufacturing process possible, but also make it easier for workers.

Numerous types of cutting tools exist that are used to cut different materials, for instance sheet metal, and make different shapes, such as screw holes. A drill or a knife are more simple examples. More sophisticated cutting tools include taps and dies, milling cutters and centerless grinders.

With manufacturing, there are certain situations that may be too unsafe for workers to perform their jobs in. For instance, an item may be too hot to touch or much too large to move without machine assistance. In this case an industrial manipulator may be used. This gadget has robotic arms that can be operated by human beings. These manipulator arms make it possible to execute tasks safely that may otherwise be dangerous without their assistance.

Then there are measuring tools that are often used throughout the manufacturing process. Some examples of measuring tools include various rulers, for instance a yard stick or a tape measure, and a sensor, also known as a detector. A sensor is able to convert the measurement of a physical quantity into a signal that is then read by a human or an instrument.

Next are shaping tools. A shaping tool might be a trowel or a jig. A jig is generally used in metalworking and woodworking. During the manufacturing process, a jig is used to provide interchangeability, repeatability and accuracy. The other example, a trowel, is a hand tool that can be used to smooth surfaces, such as a bricklayer’s trowel.

Lastly are fastening tools. A fastening tool may be a nail gun, glue gun or welder. The primary purpose of this kind of tool is to attach two or more items together using various methods. The adhering items used with these examples are heating and melting metal together, nails or some type of glue.

The process of manufacturing is executed to create many different items. Therefore, a wide variety of tools have been invented that are used during the manufacturing process. While the above mentioned are made use of to carry out an assortment of tasks, they are merely a few examples among many.
